During the Gulf War, most of the Special Forces units were still wearing the "choco-chip" pattern BDUs. This trooper was in a unit sent to recon ahead of the main US force. An unexpected encounter with Iraqi patrols resulted in many casualties on the Iraqi side. However, their position was compromised and they had to be extracted by helicopter units.
